My Story

Eric Henty - Biography

Eric Henty lives in Brooklyn, New York. He takes frequent trips to NYC visiting the art museums and galleries. New York galleries and venues have been open and receptive to feature his artworks. His wife of many years is an art enthusiast who is supportive of his work and often provides invaluable critiques of his artwork. He collaborates closely with another artist who he has frequent discussions with regarding art.

Art was part of Henty’s life starting when he was a child. His grandparents were both artists on his mother’s side, his grandfather having developed new lighting fixtures and was instrumental in designing the lighting for the Alamo, and 1964 World’s Fair in NYC. His mother had a university art education. She was instrumental in encouraging her son’s interest in art. From an early age, she took the family on frequent visits to art museums both in the United States and Europe.

When Henty returned from the Peace Corps, he began his study and creation of art in earnest. He found formal art instruction too stifling. This led to his own inquiry into making art and found mentors in the directors of a gallery who offered to review and critique his work. As his artwork developed, he found an audience who bought his work.

Having studied art history and continued to work in his studio, Today, Henty has developed a cohesive body of artwork characterized by his exploration of contemporary Cubism. His work is filled with luminous figurative subjects with composition and color harmonies that have spiritual depth, meaning, and symbolism that speak to the human experience in the present.
